Code of Conduct

Last updated: April 2025

Introduction

MyEdSpace exists to make world-class math instruction accessible to every K–12 student in the United States. Our live classes bring together students, parents, and educators from across the country, and the quality of that experience depends on every participant showing up with respect, honesty, and a genuine commitment to learning.

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards we expect from all members of the MyEdSpace community — students, parents and guardians, and instructors alike. By participating in any MyEdSpace class, session, or communication, you agree to uphold these standards. This code works alongside our Terms and Conditions and Safeguarding Policy; together, these documents define the environment we are all responsible for maintaining.

Respectful Participation

Every person in a MyEdSpace classroom deserves to feel welcome, valued, and safe. Students come to us with different backgrounds, abilities, and levels of confidence in math — and that diversity is something we celebrate. All participants are expected to engage with one another with patience and courtesy, and to avoid any conduct that demeans, excludes, or intimidates others.

This means refraining from language or behaviour that is discriminatory, harassing, or threatening on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, religion, disability, or any other characteristic. It means listening when others are speaking, contributing constructively to class discussions, and treating every question — no matter how basic it may seem — as a legitimate part of the learning process.

Instructors are held to the same standard and are additionally responsible for modelling respectful behaviour and for intervening if the classroom environment becomes unsafe or unwelcoming for any student.

Academic Integrity

Honest effort is the foundation of real learning. Students at MyEdSpace are expected to do their own work, to engage genuinely with problems and exercises, and to seek help in ways that build understanding rather than bypass it. Using unauthorized assistance, submitting work that is not your own, or misrepresenting your understanding of material is a violation of this code.

We understand that the pressure students feel around academic performance can sometimes tempt shortcuts. Our instructors are here to help — not to judge — and we encourage students to ask for support when they are struggling rather than to seek dishonest alternatives. Questions are always welcome, and working through a problem you find difficult is exactly what our classes are designed for.

Parents and guardians play an important role in supporting academic integrity. We ask that adults do not complete assignments or assessments on behalf of students, and that they encourage their children to engage honestly with the material.

Appropriate Behaviour in Live Classes

Live online classes require a degree of shared discipline that makes focused learning possible. Students are asked to join sessions on time, prepared to participate, and in an environment with minimal distractions. Cameras and microphones should be used thoughtfully — students are not required to have cameras on, but should ensure that their microphone is muted unless they are actively contributing to the class.

The session platform — including the chat function, whiteboard tools, and any shared materials — must be used solely for educational purposes. Using class time or platform features to share unrelated content, to communicate off-topic messages, or to disrupt the learning experience of other students is not acceptable.

Screen recording or capturing any part of a live class session without the prior written consent of MyEdSpace is not permitted. Our classes and instructional materials are the proprietary content of MyEdSpace and are provided for the personal, non-commercial use of enrolled students only.

Parents and guardians are welcome to observe live classes. We ask, however, that observers do not actively participate in sessions in a way that distracts the instructor or other students, and that they respect the privacy of other students who may be visible or audible during the class.

Responsibilities of Parents and Guardians

Parents and guardians are valued partners in their child's education, and we welcome your involvement. We ask that you help your child understand and uphold this Code of Conduct, and that you model the respectful, honest engagement you would like your child to practice.

All communication from parents and guardians to MyEdSpace staff and instructors must be conducted respectfully. We are committed to working constructively with families to address concerns, answer questions, and improve outcomes for students — but we will not tolerate abusive, threatening, or harassing communication directed at any member of our team.

Instructor Responsibilities

MyEdSpace instructors are expected to deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in a manner that is inclusive, professionally appropriate, and consistent with this code. Instructors must maintain clear professional boundaries with students at all times — see our Safeguarding Policy for the specific requirements that apply to instructor-student interactions.

Instructors who become aware of any conduct that violates this code — whether by a student, a parent, or another instructor — are expected to report that conduct promptly through the appropriate internal channels. Inaction in the face of misconduct is itself a departure from the standards we expect.

Consequences for Violations

MyEdSpace takes violations of this code seriously. The appropriate response to a breach will depend on its nature and severity, and will be determined by MyEdSpace at its sole discretion. Potential consequences include a formal warning issued to the relevant party, temporary suspension from classes, permanent removal from the platform, and — where conduct may constitute a criminal act — referral to the appropriate authorities.

We aim to respond to misconduct in a way that is proportionate, fair, and focused on protecting the broader community. Where a student is involved, we will work with parents or guardians as part of the process wherever possible. MyEdSpace reserves the right to take immediate action — including removing a participant from a live session — where continued participation poses a risk to others.

Reporting Misconduct

If you witness or experience conduct that you believe violates this Code of Conduct, we encourage you to report it. Reports can be made by any participant — student, parent, guardian, or instructor — and will be treated with discretion and taken seriously.

Email: conduct@myedspace.com

Please include as much detail as possible in your report — including the date and nature of the incident, the individuals involved, and any relevant context. All reports will be acknowledged promptly, and we will update you on the outcome as appropriate.

Where a report involves concerns about a child's safety or welfare rather than (or in addition to) a conduct matter, please refer to our Safeguarding Policy and contact safeguarding@myedspace.com.

Policy Review

This Code of Conduct is reviewed annually by the MyEdSpace team and updated as needed to reflect changes in our platform, our community, and applicable standards. We may revise this document at any time, and we will notify enrolled students and families of material changes. Continued participation in MyEdSpace classes following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised code.
