Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: April 2025

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs access to and use of the MyEdSpace website, learning platform, live class environment, and all associated digital services (collectively, the "Platform"). It applies to all users of the Platform, including students, parents, guardians, and any other individuals who access MyEdSpace services on behalf of an enrolled student.

This AUP is incorporated by reference into the MyEdSpace Terms and Conditions, which constitute the binding agreement between MyEdSpace and its users. In the event of any conflict between this AUP and the Terms and Conditions, the Terms and Conditions shall prevail. Capitalised terms used but not defined in this AUP have the meanings given to them in the Terms and Conditions.

This AUP is intended to describe how the Platform may and may not be used. It is distinct from our Code of Conduct, which addresses standards of interpersonal behaviour within our learning community. Schools, districts, and other institutions undertaking procurement decisions are encouraged to review this AUP alongside our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Notice, Children's Privacy Notice, and Safeguarding Policy.

Permitted Uses

MyEdSpace grants enrolled students, and their parents or guardians acting on their behalf, a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Platform for the following purposes during the term of an active subscription:

Students may access live math classes and any associated instructional materials made available through the Platform for their own personal educational use. Students may view recordings of sessions they were enrolled in, where such recordings are made available by MyEdSpace, for personal review and study. Students and parents may access and download any worksheets, handouts, or supplementary materials that MyEdSpace provides as part of the enrolled course, for use in connection with that course only.

Parents and guardians may access the Platform to manage their child's account, communicate with MyEdSpace staff, monitor their child's progress, and observe live class sessions in accordance with our Code of Conduct.

All permitted uses are limited to personal, non-commercial, educational purposes. Any use not expressly permitted by this AUP or the Terms and Conditions requires the prior written consent of MyEdSpace.

Prohibited Uses

The following uses of the Platform are strictly prohibited. Users must not, and must not permit or assist others to:

Circumvent or compromise access controls. Users must not attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform, to any MyEdSpace account other than their own, or to any systems, networks, or data connected to the Platform. This includes bypassing authentication mechanisms, exploiting technical vulnerabilities, or using the credentials of another user.

Share login credentials. Account access is personal and non-transferable. Users must not share their username, password, or any other authentication credential with any third party, including family members who are not the account holder. Each individual accessing the Platform must have their own authorized account.

Scrape or harvest data. Users must not use automated tools, bots, crawlers, scripts, or any other means to extract, collect, copy, or scrape content or data from the Platform in bulk or in a systematic manner. This prohibition applies regardless of whether the content would otherwise be accessible to the user.

Reverse engineer the Platform. Users must not decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code or underlying structure of any software that forms part of the Platform.

Commercially exploit Platform content. Users must not sell, resell, license, sublicense, redistribute, or otherwise commercially exploit any content, recordings, materials, or other intellectual property made available through the Platform. This includes uploading MyEdSpace content to third-party platforms, making it publicly available online, or using it as part of a tutoring, coaching, or educational product or service offered to others.

Record or capture sessions without authorization. Users must not record, screenshot, screengrab, or otherwise capture any live class session, recording, or other Platform content without the prior written consent of MyEdSpace. Recordings provided by MyEdSpace for student review are subject to the permitted use restrictions set out above.

Interfere with Platform operation. Users must not take any action that imposes an unreasonable load on Platform infrastructure, introduces malicious code, disrupts the experience of other users, or otherwise interferes with the normal operation of the Platform or the services of any third-party provider MyEdSpace relies upon.

Violate applicable law. Users must not use the Platform in any manner that violates applicable federal, state, or local law, including laws relating to privacy, data protection, intellectual property, and the protection of minors.

Content Standards

Where the Platform enables users to submit content — including messages in the live class chat, questions submitted to instructors, or any other form of user-generated communication — that content must comply with the following standards.

All user-submitted content must be relevant to the educational context in which it is submitted. Content must not be abusive, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene, or discriminatory. Content must not include personal information about other users — including the name, location, contact details, or image of any other student — without their explicit consent. Content must not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Content must not contain advertising, promotional material, or links to external websites unless expressly invited by the instructor.

MyEdSpace reserves the right to remove any user-submitted content that violates these standards or that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be inappropriate for the Platform — without notice and without liability to the submitting user.

Given that our platform serves K–12 students, we apply a particularly conservative standard to content that appears in the live class environment. We ask all users — and parents and guardians in particular — to keep this in mind.

Intellectual Property

All content made available through the Platform — including but not limited to video recordings, lesson materials, problem sets, assessments, and instructional designs — is the proprietary intellectual property of MyEdSpace or its licensors, and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Nothing in this AUP or the Terms and Conditions transfers any ownership interest in MyEdSpace's intellectual property to any user. The limited licence described in the Permitted Uses section above does not include any right to reproduce, adapt, distribute, publicly perform, or create derivative works from any MyEdSpace content, except as expressly permitted in writing.

Consequences of Violations

MyEdSpace takes violations of this AUP seriously. If we determine, in our sole discretion, that a user has violated or is violating this AUP, we may take any of the following actions, individually or in combination, without prior notice:

We may issue a formal warning to the user or the account holder. We may suspend or terminate the user's access to the Platform, in whole or in part, temporarily or permanently. We may remove or disable access to content submitted or posted in violation of this AUP. We may pursue legal action, including claims for injunctive relief and damages, where a violation causes or risks causing harm to MyEdSpace, its intellectual property, or other users. Where a violation may constitute a criminal offence, we may refer the matter to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

A subscription terminated for breach of this AUP will not ordinarily be refunded. MyEdSpace's right to enforce this AUP does not limit any other right or remedy available to us under the Terms and Conditions or applicable law.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the Platform that you believe violates this AUP — including unauthorized distribution of MyEdSpace content, misuse of another user's account, or any other prohibited activity — please report it to us promptly. Reports can be submitted by email to legal@myedspace.com. Please include as much detail as possible, including the nature of the suspected violation, any relevant URLs or content, and the date on which you became aware of the issue.

All reports will be reviewed and investigated. MyEdSpace is not obligated to disclose the outcome of an investigation to the reporting party, but we will act on credible reports of AUP violations.

Relationship to Terms and Conditions

This AUP forms part of the binding agreement between MyEdSpace and all users of the Platform and is incorporated by reference into the MyEdSpace Terms and Conditions. By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to comply with this AUP in full. If you do not agree to the terms of this AUP, you must not use the Platform.

MyEdSpace reserves the right to update this AUP at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a revised version on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Platform following such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP. We encourage users — and particularly schools and institutions reviewing this document for procurement purposes — to check this page periodically.
