Children's Privacy Notice
Last updated: April 2025
MyEdSpace is committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our platform. This Children's Privacy Notice describes how MyEdSpace collects, uses, and shares personal information from children under the age of 13 in the United States, and explains the rights of parents and legal guardians under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This notice supplements our general Privacy Notice and applies specifically to our practices with respect to younger learners.
About MyEdSpace and Our Services
MyEdSpace offers live, online math classes for K–12 students in the United States. Our classes are scheduled twice per week and delivered via a supervised video platform. Because some of our students may be under 13 years old, we take our obligations under COPPA seriously and have designed our data practices with children's safety in mind.
What Information We Collect from Children
MyEdSpace collects only the personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our educational services. When a child under 13 is enrolled, we may collect the child's first name, grade level, and general time zone so that we can place the student in the right class section. We do not ask children directly to submit personal information; enrollment is completed by a parent or guardian through the account registration process.
During live class sessions we may collect session attendance records and, where technically necessary to operate the video platform, transient connection data such as IP addresses. We do not retain audio or video recordings of students for any purpose beyond real-time delivery of the class session. We do not collect information about a child's physical location beyond what the parent or guardian voluntarily provides at enrollment.
How We Use Children's Information
We use the personal information of children solely to provide, maintain, and improve the educational services for which the child is enrolled. Specifically, we use this information to place students in the appropriate class, send class schedules and session links to the parent or guardian account, and provide customer support to families. We do not use children's personal information to build user profiles for commercial purposes, and we do not use it to send targeted or behavioral advertising to children.
Parental Consent
MyEdSpace requires verifiable parental consent before collecting any personal information from a child under 13. Consent is obtained during the account enrollment process, which is completed entirely by the parent or legal guardian. By creating an account and enrolling a child, the parent or guardian confirms that they are at least 18 years of age, have authority to consent on behalf of the child, and agree to this Children's Privacy Notice.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the relevant account unless and until proper consent is obtained.
Parental Rights: Review, Correction, and Deletion
Parents and legal guardians have the right to review the personal information MyEdSpace has collected about their child, request corrections to inaccurate information, and request that we delete their child's personal information. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@myedspace.com. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days. Please note that deleting a child's personal information may result in the termination of the child's enrollment, as we require certain information to deliver our services.
Parents may also withdraw consent for our continued collection and use of their child's personal information at any time by contacting us at the address above. Upon withdrawal of consent, we will cease using the child's information and will delete it in accordance with our data retention practices, except to the extent we are required by law to retain it.
How We Share Children's Information
MyEdSpace does not sell, rent, or trade children's personal information. We may share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating our platform — for example, video conferencing providers and payment processors — but only to the extent necessary to deliver our services. All such providers are contractually required to protect children's information and to use it only for the purposes for which it was shared. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a student or the public.
No Behavioral Advertising to Children
MyEdSpace does not engage in behavioral advertising directed at children under 13. We do not permit third-party advertising networks to collect personal information from children on our platform for the purpose of serving targeted advertisements. Any promotional communications related to MyEdSpace are sent only to the parent or guardian account and not to child users.
Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Our live class sessions are conducted in a supervised environment, and access to student data within our organization is limited to employees who need it to perform their job functions.
Data Retention
We retain children's personal information only for as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by applicable law. When a student's enrollment ends, we will delete or de-identify their personal information within a reasonable period, unless a parent requests earlier deletion or we are required by law to retain it.
Changes to This Notice
We may update this Children's Privacy Notice from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify parents by email at the address associated with their account and will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our services following notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the revised notice.
